Wentworth Castle Gardens: The Final Hurdle

It's been a while since we ventured to Wentworth Castle Gardens, but the amazing staff and volunteers have been working hard on our segment while we've been away.
On 11th April, we visited to plant up. A new raised planter has been installed with stone wall included within it to represent the chapel stone. We planted one side with dark plants such as black grass, dark coloured pansies and a red star cordyline to represent the Peace Garden as it had burnt down at one point. We also included burnt logs to represent the burnt wooden beams that are no more. To mulch this side, we used ash and burnt wood.
The other side of the planter was much brighter, with green foliage and colourful flowers, such as drumstick primroses, a green cordyline, and even a little succulent in the stone wall to represent Mr Missing, the old caretaker's, succulent borders that once spelt "Blessed Are They That Mourn" along the main path. This was then mulched with normal wood chip.

We have also included pointed obelisks in the beds, weighed down with more stone, to represent the spires of the chapels. There are two beds side by side with a wood chip path between them, representing the 'main path' with grass verges at either side as you enter from Cemetery Road gates.
We only managed to plant one of the beds this time, but we're returning for the final two beds in May. We're also still waiting on a covered seat, but we dare say the garden is almost there. We'll never say it's finished, though. A garden is never finished!
